Pitlochry Angling Club

Pitlochry Angling Club’s policy is to provide good fishing at reasonable cost to members and visitors alike. We offer immediate online booking via the website for all available permits. In some cases the numbers allowed to fish are limited and permits are sold on a first come first served basis.

Our waters are patrolled by wardens and Fisheries Board bailiffs to ensure that things are looked after. In addition to the various trout and salmon fishing available to visitors the Club also has loch and river fishing that is only available to members and their guests.

Anyone hoping to join the Club should first read the information given on the Contact Page to ensure that they satisfy the criteria for membership before applying

Our fishing

The Club manages several miles of trout fishing on the River Tummel between Pitlochry and Ballinluig where grayling are also present and on the upper part of the River Tummel between Clunie Dam and the Linn of Tummel that is available to visitors at reasonable cost for daily, weekly and season permits. We also have two very good Lochs, Bhac and Kinardochy that are stocked with rainbow and brown trout respectively.

Salmon fishing below Pitlochry Dam is very good, particularly during springtime. Later when the salmon ascend the famous fish ladder our other salmon fishing beat at Ruan Ruarie on the River Garry provides an alternative venue for visitors. At certain times of year we also provide access to the Lower Tummel salmon fishing also known as the Monument or Moulinearn Beat.

Our History

Pitlochry Angling Club was founded in 1884. Over the past 40 years, it has acquired fishing rights on various trout and salmon waters in the Pitlochry area.

The Club is very well-known and respected in the Scottish angling scene and several Club members have fished for Scotland in the Scottish International Fly-Fishing Team.

The Club own the salmon fishing rights at Portnacraig on the River Tummel and at Ruan Ruarie on the River Garry.
