The green lights will normally show and they will change to red when a train approaches. When the red lights show a train can reach the crossing in 40 seconds. An audible alarm will also sound when the red lights show. Buttons are provided for raising and lowering the crossing barriers. Please note that these barriers can still be raised when the red light is illuminated and a train is approaching. Before you cross, you must ALWAYS re-check that the GREEN light is still showing after you have raised the barriers.
